Looking for Love and Growing Up

The residency began October 3rd with the instillation of my 2 1/2 year olds paintings. Most artists I know want to get to a place in there work that is free of personal judgement so the creativity can flow freely. I see that in my daughters paintings. That is why in incorporated her into the residency. It also helped me to find what the residency and performance is about.

I have a list of songs that bring up memories and stir up emotions with in me. I have taken some of these songs and made a soundtrack to my life that begins when I began dancing as a teenager. It goes though love and relationships into independence and freedom. In the end I find true love. I will be dancing surrounded by my daughters paintings. October 22 at 8pm at Everbrite Mercantile Co.

I have spent the last week attending to a sick two year old, who now thinks that since she got what she wanted when she was sick she gets to whine and cry every time I say no. My 8 month old is sick and with a sore throat but her fever isn't as high, thank god, and she is in much better spirits. However, She didn't eat anything but yogurt today.

I must break the two year old from all the whining. It really stresses me out. I think I am getting sick from all of it. I told her today all of the crying for no reason and whining with every question really hurts my heart and makes me feel bad. Not sure if it worked, when things make me feel bad she usually understands. I have to say all the whining is making me want to say no to everything!!

We are Augustines

Kenny and I finally had a night out together. Members of the former band Pela have entered a new chapter in music. We Are Augustines is an amazing experience full of music and emotion. Billy, the vocalist, has such emotion behind what he is singing, it's as though he is reliving each moment in his life and spilling his guts to you as the music plays. High energy rock! It's definitely music that needs to be heard by everyone.

Went to a bridal shower last weekend in Brooklyn at Chadwick's in Bay Ridge, food was really good. Lots of people I didn't know so my friend Tania and I drank sangria and chatted, and chatted, and chatted. Met the ladies at our table, which Tania dubbed the drinking table.We also played, what should the bride take on the honeymoon bingo, Tania won!! There was a Hawaiian word find, I found them all. Last but not least we made a wedding dress of toilet paper. Tania and I created a masterpiece and won most fashionable and was the brides favorite!

Pie, Pie, Pie

It all started one night when we were watching the Food Channel. The show that was on was profiling restaurants. It just so happened to be one in Brooklyn with in walking distance from our house. Toward the end of the segment, 20 or so minutes later, my husband looks up and says "I know that girl" and of course I then realized why I kept thinking she looked so familiar. One of the waitresses who worked in my husbands short lived restaurant has opened her own establishment, in which they make pies. It is called 4 and 20 Blackbirds. The obsession was on, I kept thinking when are we going to go. They are closed on Mondays so we finally had a family day together in the middle of the week and so we went on a nice walk to eat so pie! The pie is so amazing. My husband, Daughter, and myself all shared 3 pieces. I say shared, but my Princess pretty much ate the entire piece of apple pie on her own and then wanted to eat my Chocolate/ pecan piece. We also had a type of custard pie that was also amazing. It would be helpful if I had remembered the names of each pie and took pics of the slices, but all I got were these pics of my princess enjoying her apple pie.

Naps, time, and things to do.

How amazing is it that I got my girls to take a nap together two days in a row! Yesterday I cleaned and today I did some yoga. So amazing! I need to find a coat for Clarice. She is growing out of it and it is currently what she needs to sleep. Her winter coat has become her security blanket. I call it a big hug. The one thing that I need to do, other than get in shape for some dancing is sew, sew, sew! I owe a woman some pants and also have some amazing fabric that I need to create some creative clothing with. Let's keep the naps going ladies.

I am still teaching every Wednesday 7:30-8:30pm at Everbrite Mercantile co. in Red Hook. I will be dancing at a Lec.Dem in Jersey at the Liberty Science Center in the beginning of April. I will also be performing at an art instillation at everbrite April 16th.

February where are you going?

It's the first day of February and it already feels like it's over. So many things going on and still so much house work to do/finish. Which I should be doing right now....

Teaching at a retreat, baby is getting christened, mom is coming three times from PA, and my other little princess is turning 2 at the beginning of March.

It's the first weekend retreat for me as a teacher. I am so very excited to be involved in such a fun experience. Retreats are always good for the development of a good personal practice. It's like jumping into the water, just do it, wrap your body around it. Yoga, Pilates, good food, fun people, and some quiet out in the Hamptons. February 11-13 here I come!!! and I am bringing my mom, too. If you are free the weekend before Valentines day contact me and I will send you the registration information.

Starting December 1st I will be teaching class at Everbrite Mercantile Co. Every Wednesday in December from 7:30-8:30. Mark your calender, the class is open level by donation.

Felecia has studied yoga since 2001, receiving her certification in 2008 from Laughing Lotus Yoga Center in NYC. Before that she earned her BFA from the University of Montana in Dance and Choreography. As a dancer she understands the body-mind connection as well as proper alignment. She believes that yoga is a fantastic physical practice and a wonderful form of exercise, and has also found a spiritual outlet though the practice. As a new mother Felecia is very excited to follow her passion for yoga and journey deeper into pre-natal and restorative yoga.

My pants are finally on sale in a physical location. A new store in a store in Red Hook, Brooklyn called everbrite mercantile co. Opened by my friend Mollie and her "friend" Bryan. I am so excited to be a part of this new adventure. In more exciting news I am also teaching a yoga class there on Nov. 17th at 7:30pm after hours. Studio 26 a new pilates and wellness center kicked off their Open House on Friday, June 18th with an amazing event. There were so many amazing people. It was great to see so many familiar faces I have not seen in a long time and to meet new people. My pant were a great hit and will be present in the space in the future so keep you eyes open.

The space had an amazing skylight right above the group class area, two pilates reformers and cadillacs. There were three unfinished rooms. One is to be a massage room and the other two are for private rentals for $25/hour, what an amazing rate! The Launch Party is next Saturday. Hope to see you there.

Its an event to remember.
Pick a date, choose a theme, and invite a few of your closest friends to join you. The theme can be as simple as a beginners class and range from prenatal, to Pranayama (Breath), Chakra focus, or focus on a specific body part that needs special attention. I will plan the class to surround the theme provide some fun and soothing music and guide chanting.

Make it an afternoon class and finish with having a healthy snack and enjoy the afternoon sunshine or an evening event with tea and scones.

Since I received my teaching certification, I have heard many comments about how people want to try yoga but seem intimidated to just join a class. I want to make it easier for everyone to attend a yoga class. I have also heard "I am not flexible enough." Yoga is to help you become more flexible as well as a number of other positive outcomes. Let me help you learn basic poses and the flow of a yoga class so you can attend on your own and be confident.

Take this chance to learn some poses. I will help you to learn the language of yoga, and understand the general idea behind what yoga is about. All you have to do is plan a small group class or have a private session in your own home. I will take time to show basic yoga poses like Downward dog, Warrior I & II, Triangle Pose, and many others. I will help you to do the pose at your level and than take you though a class to feel the flow of a Vinyasa Flow Yoga Class. Contact me if you are interested.

Emotional breakthroughs that happen while practicing yoga are amazing. I remember the first one I had. I was laying on the floor listening to the teacher and finding a deep connection to what she was saying. The tears began to fill in my eyes and they just wouldn't stop. It was actually quite refreshing and after the crying finally ended I felt a little bit more free. This is quite an amazing feeling to have. It is one of the reason I became so interested in the practice of yoga.

I believe that the body holds on to the past in certain parts of the body. Each person has there stress holder, like when your shoulders are tight, or your back hurts, sometimes it is even in the stomach. By practicing yoga the poses reach those "knots" and wring them out. The breath opens up the areas and the body position of the pose reaches deep inside to massage it. Each area of the body is represent by a chakra and the chakras are connected by channels. One basic example of the body connection to the mind is though two of the Nadi's in the body (the channels in the body) Ida and Pingala. These channels criss cross though each Chakra from the base of the spine to the third eye. This connects each chakra to the next and keeps the energy flowing upward. It is important to find the tight spots for the emotional break though, but to also take care of all other areas to keep your mind and body at an even place.

I am holding a yoga class every Monday in the month of October from 5-6. Starting on the 5th continuing on the 12th, 19th, and 26th. Class will be held at the Union street Dance Studio in Park Slope. 725 Union Street, Studio B. (between 4th and 5th avenues closer to 5th behind Brooklyn Industries) The class will be done by donation, so if you are short on cash and can't make your regular class, please come. If you need a quick pick me up in the afternoon class will stimulate blood flow and a steady breath. Party Girl!

She dance all night long.
We had a beautiful christening ceremony on Sunday. My family was here from Montana and Pittsburgh. It was so beautiful to watch her listen to the priest speak.

Of course, the water was cold and she cried when it was poured over her head. The oil anointing bothered her too, but it smelled nice. She also tried to eat the Father Anthony's fingers.

It is has been interesting to me how I have allowed religion back into my life. Previously it made me uncomfortable and refused to participate in religion for most of my life. Since I began practicing yoga and studying the spirituality of god. It has made it easier to understand and think about that relationship. What/Who is god to me? What/Who is god to you?

For the Fall

My website has been updated. I am so excited! There are so many things I want to work on this fall. Currently, I am working on getting an ImmeYoga class together, by donation, in Brooklyn. I am really excited to be able to give a great yoga class to people. I will continue to substitute classes at DNA when I am asked to teach. Some things I need to work on:
I need to figure out a space where I can sew my clothes. Space is limited around my apartment so that is a challenge. For now check out what I have for sale currently.

I am going to continue the choreography of solos I have been putting together and produce a show in the next year. More to come...

The most amazing thing has come into my life. I spend 24 house a day with a little human that is experiencing everything for the first time. I give her everything she needs. We have approached the joys of sitting and playing with toys and the introduction of fruits and veggies. How did we get there so fast? Sometimes it feels like we left the hospital only two weeks ago. Low and behold it has been 6 months! Everyone said time will fly by and it sure has. Her personality is growing stronger and her laughter makes me stronger.

The hard part is not to get so wrapped up in mommyhood and baby life that I forget my personal goals in life. While I was pregnant I became certified to teach yoga and not only have I not been teaching my practice is few are far between. I also need to find my way back into dance. I need to figure out a new time management system, one that includes myself. I am very supported my my husband and family, but I struggle with asking for help. I am a "do it myself" kind of gal. If I want to follow though with my goals, that doesn't fly anymore. Things must change and evolve. This must be the mother struggle that most mothers go though.

I am so in love all over again. Gianna Rose was born 3/5/09. She was born naturally with no drugs with love and support from loving dad and husband though the whole labor. It only lasted 6 hours and she is now over 2 weeks old and has grown to 9lbs 6oz. She is growing so fast and everyday is a new experience. She is so calm and collected for a baby. She spends most of her day looking content and beautiful sleeping and then eating. She is a bit of a night owl like her daddy.
My recovery has been fast and quite amazing. I actually lost the baby weight within the first few days, however, my belly is still a bit soft and flabby. I amazingly fit into my clothes again. I have to thank yoga and dance for assistance in this amazing recovery time.

Nine Months

8+ months have passed and I am living in my ninth month of pregnancy. My little lady inside has given me a few false starts which makes me want her even more. The doctors prediction after my last early morning of contractions turned out to be wrong. She thought I was going to have her by Thursday, that was yesterday. It's all up to baby girl, and when she is ready she will come. However, she keeps growing and is running out of room which means her feet are occasionally stuck under my ribs, ouch. It is also harder and harder to move forward. I can't wait to hold her. I have two weeks left!!

We had a crazy day last Monday Jan. 26th. My baby was a comin'! She woke me up in the middle of the night knocking on the door trying to get out. I was feeling cramps all though my back and legs which were actually contractions. After about an hour of trying to figure out what was really happening we called the doctor. He told us to go to the hospital and get checked out. The nurse hooked me up to the monitor right away. She confirmed that I was having contractions and they were 6 min. apart! I began to worry a little bit more because then they told me I was 2cm dilated. I was hooked up to an IV to make sure that dehydration wasn't the cause, which it wasn't. After a few hours of the contractions not completely stopping the doctor decided to give me a shot to stop them. This shot made my heart run a million miles a minute. It felt like I had just taken a handful of diet pills. They said they could give me 3 shots in an hour if the contractions didn't stop. 20 minutes after the first one the nurse came in a saw that they had slowed down and became smaller but not stopped, so she gave me another. If I wasn't already a calm person this could have made me have a panic attack. I felt my heart wanting to jump out of my chest and my body began to shake. I was cold, my lower back was hurting really bad, and that second shot didn't feel good in my body at all. Thankfully, the contractions stopped and I didn't get the third one. After about another half an hour they let me go home in which I spent the whole day sleeping. I wasn't told to stay on bed rest, but to just take it very easy. I am still working, but not much of anything else. The couch and bed have become my best friends. In realizing that the couch and bed and wonderful things it is still very important to go on walks and see the outside. Yesterday was beautiful and I missed it. Baby Girl is doing fine and is still running, dancing, and playing all day in my belly.

For the past three and a half months I attended yoga school at Laughing Lotus Yoga center in NYC. It was an amazing experience. The information I received and am able to access is infinite. All of my classmates were supportive and full of love hence the nickname "love school" I am so excited to be able to teach yoga to people, it is such a wonderful blessing! Now to finish my other adventure and have this baby...

foot 12 weeks hand 21 weeks

I am now 5 months along and still feeling great!!! I am half way though yoga school and I am so excited to begin teaching. Of course, I will need to practice on my friends so if you are out there send me an email and we can do some yoga. The doctors recently told me the due date was March 4th instead of March 13th which is what everyone told us from the beginning. I still don't know the sex of the baby, but my husband does. He is having a great time asking me over and over, "Want to know now?"

I will be doing a sample sale in December 4th with mollie dash and a few other designers. I have so many pieces for you all to see. I hope you will all be able to attend. The location is still being decided so keep in touch and I will keep you posted.

3 months of joy and change

This has been an amazing summer for me. As many times as I wanted to work on ImmeIndustries, it was put on hold. I got married to my wonderful husband on July 30th and am going to have a baby in March. I have cut back on my work hours which means I am able to do more with ImmeInsustries. I am going to have a new photo shoot soon and hopefully find some stores in Brooklyn what will consign my stuff. Marriage and mother hood aren't my only new adventures I am going to be going to school starting Sept. 5 to get my yoga certification to teach. Hopefully, this will all tie into ImmeIndustries and help me create an even better line of clothes for the active lifestyle.

My dance company, FeleciaMariaProject, is still rehearsing and hopefully in a year and a half I will be producing a show in collaboration with ImmeIndustries to have a dance fashion show.

I recently got some new head shots taken by Jon Selvey. He takes the shots on Mondays at The Little Owl in the West Village. This is a beautiful 4 star restaurant with two walls of windows. This allows the natural light to come in and make the photos look spectacular. I am very happy with how they turned out. I also had some dance shots taken by Florence Baratay and they are absolutely wonderful.

I love dancing and sharing my experience with an audience. The thing I enjoy the most is the process. me and you was a full 7 months of getting to know my choreographer Leanne, and my fellow dancers Kim and Beth. All that time together is priceless and I love them all. The performance was so gratifying. I had the support of my mother who flew in from Montana to see me dance. I want to thank everyone who came to support the performance and hope to see your beautiful faces at the next performance.

The shows theme was "Stuck in a dating rut." I had not been on a date in a long time so why not email the show and see what happens. They called me the next day with questions about my dating habits. It was sad to day my habits are non existent, but I mentioned that I do love those "bad boys." They took that statement and ran. However, there definition of bad boy was slightly different than mine. They think bad boys are the type of boys who like to be mean to the ladies and that just ain't my cup o' tea! I like the bad boys who ride skateboards, snowboards and what ever extreme sport you can think of. When I realized that our definitions were slightly different I tried to correct it by saying "I want a guy who will jump out of a plane and then tell me I'm beautiful." They decided to stick with their definition. Then they asked who my opposite attraction was. To be honest it's the socially awkward nerd, you all know who they are. The Trekkie's, card players, those boys who say things beyond my understanding and have the strangest body language I have ever seen. I don't think they are bad, as the little blondie on the show tried to put in my mouth. I am just not attracted to them. So as a guest on the show I was set up on a date with 5 guys who were found a the hippest gaming store in Manhattan. Is that possible? Not knowing who I was going on a date with. I took the opportunity to make a special top just for the occasion so I could at least be wearing something from ImmeIndustries on international TV. I looked sexy in my new top, JLo pants, and sparkly star shoes. I get to place to meet my date and there were 2 tables of guys playing cards. I sat and talked for ten minutes each with two Marks, a Tim, Sean, and Aaron. I was trying to have a conversation and ask questions but really?? Talk about not eye contact and sad faces. They fell very flat. Aaron was the only one who could hold an actual conversation that went both ways. Come on Tyra, maybe I do need to branch out but seriously!!!

The crew was great and it turns out I thought a couple of them were actually attractive. Too bad they weren't my date. I should have said all crew guys and back stage hands were so unattractive and gross.

After the crazy date that went no where, the show was taped two days later and it was quite the process. Before we went on stage They piled on the make up and fluffed the hair while they were back stage trying to get these crazy stories out of all three of the ladies who were set up on dates for the show. I had told them before I didn't have a bad boy story that will fit your definition. So I manipulated a story of incomplete information so it sound worse than it was. Finally they liked it and I had to say it on TV. Not my idea of kind of exposure I anticipated but I did it. Thank god it didn't even make the final cut.

Tyra was beautiful, but crazy in her ways. I didn't even meet her. She just appeared from under the stage and started asking questions. We were supposed to act like she was our best friend. Hmmmm, Who would of though I should have been getting my acting skills tuned up. The taping was fast and I felt like I was tongue twisted and confused. We were done by 1pm and I went off to work. I was very happy with the results that aired March 3rd. Keep your eyes out for those pesky re runs.

Moves and Booze: A complete success

The first benefit for FeleciaMariaProject turned out to be a blast! The goal of supporting three companies at once made it even more exciting. The two other companies involved were AnD Dance, and Leanne Schmidt and Company. They were also involved in the organization of this event. This collaboration of support made the event an even bigger success. The Nicholas Leichter Dance Space was donate for the event. This space could be considered the ideal New York Apartment. The first floor has super high ceilings clean bright white walls and a beautiful open living room. A kitchen with a bar counter, which is ideal for conversation. A wooden spiral stair case that lead to the basement with another open room which is used for rehearsal space. In the corner DJ MattyMatt was set up spinning various beats from classic Prince all the way to House and Hip Hop. The dance floor was full on fun! People were really showing off their moves, hence the guy with the fedora who was working that hat like it was his last chance to get into Chicago. Everyone walked in with a smile on the face, bright open eyes in amazement that a place like this actually existed in NY. They all left with a pleasant feeling of being a part of helping out the dance community.

Welcome to my adventures. This is my first blog attempt aside from the myspace blog, but that doesn't count. I am very excited about my new website and so happy with the design that mollie dash created.

My first announcement is the sale that is happening in my shop. 20% off my top 5 items until March 15th. There will be new items coming out soon. If you have any questions about what you see please don't hesitate to send me a message.

My second announcement is a benefit party Moves and Booze. This party is being thrown on February 23. This is a benefit party to support the choreographic works of Aaron Draper, FeleciaMaria, and Leanne Schmidt. There is going to be a DJ spinning House and hip hop, margaritas, beer, and wine, $20 suggested donation. It will be a blast and hope you can all attend. It is being held at the NLD dance space at 263 9th Avenue between 25th and 26th.
